The sample rites and prayers in this book provide models and examples and can be adapted to individual circumstances. They do not include an actual funeral rite. The Prayers after Death may be used immediately and are necessarily brief. The Rite of Commendation could occur some days later. The Memorial Service is intended as a more public liturgy at a suitable time perhaps weeks or months later. The Rite of Healing for Parents is more private in nature. In the case of a miscarriage, the ‘due date’ on which the baby was expected may be a suitable time for a ritual. The Rite of Blessing a Family is envisaged for domestic use after the death of an infant.
